Who we are
Painting Local (paintinglocal.ca) handles personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) and applicable provincial privacy laws. Questions or requests: privacy@paintinglocal.ca.
What we collect
- Quote requests: your name, email, phone, postal code, city, project details and any message.
- Paint your home: your name, email, mobile number, optional postal code, the photo you upload, the colours you choose and the images we generate.
- Painter applications: business and contact details you provide.
- Technical information: the country of your connection, browser type and a one-way hash of your IP address, used to prevent abuse.
- Attribution: your browser keeps a small first-party note of the page you first arrived on and the site that referred you (for example a search engine). It's stored only in your browser and sent to us only with a form you submit. We also count anonymous page events (such as visits to a page) without personal information.
We don't use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
How we use it
To respond to your request, introduce you to up to three local painters who can quote your project, send you your Paint your home result, contact you with your consent about your project and related offers, keep the service secure, and improve it.
Who we share it with
- Painters we introduce for your project receive your contact and project details.
- Service providers that run the service for us: Cloudflare (hosting, storage, email and bot protection) and Google (the Gemini image model that creates Paint your home previews, through Google Cloud's Vertex AI). Your photo is sent to Google only to create your preview.
We never sell personal information.
Your photos
Photos are resized in your browser and their location and camera data (EXIF) removed, then checked again on our server. Photos and results are stored privately and can be opened only with the secret link we email you. They're deleted automatically after 90 days, or immediately when you choose "Delete my photo and results" on your result page.
Storage and security
Data is stored on Cloudflare infrastructure with encryption in transit and at rest. Access is limited to authorized staff. Forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, rate limits and email confirmation.
Retention
Photos and generated images: 90 days. Quote requests, contact details and consent records: as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations, then deleted or anonymized.
Consent and unsubscribing
We contact you only with your consent. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing hello@paintinglocal.ca or replying to any message.
Your rights
You may ask to access, correct or delete your personal information, or ask how it's been used, by emailing privacy@paintinglocal.ca. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
